Ronney Defends His Withdrawal From World Cup Qualifiers

Wayne Rooney head cut
Wayne Rooney has defended his withdrawal from the upcoming World Cup qualifiers by posting a picture of his head injury on Facebook.
Rooney missed Manchester United's 1-0 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday after manager David Moyes confirmed he had suffered an injury in a collision with team-mate Phil Jones in training.
In his facebook post Rooney wrote: "Some people seem to be questioning my commitment to the England squad and the fact I had to pull out of the 2 games.

"There's nothing I would like more than to be helping the lads in the qualifiers. I'm sure people will see from these images the reason why I won't be able to play."
The two photos of the injury have so far been shared more than 3,000 times and picked up nearly 15,000 likes.
On Tuesday, England's Theo Walcott described the wound as "like something out of a horror film".
England go into the games with Moldova (September 6) and Ukraine (September 10) two points behind group leaders Montenegro but with a game in hand.
The injury means Rooney, the subject of unsuccessful bids from Chelsea over the summer, will be missing for up to a month.
The Manchester United player has scored 36 goals in 84 England appearances.
